Filming

Here is a little update on what's going on in my life. I am currently writing the screenplay for an amateur movie about King Arthur based off Howard Pyle's book, King Arthur and His Knights. As screenwriter, photographer, co-director and producer, my job should start get heavier as we come into April. First film night, Wednesday the 4th or the 11th. I may try to post this one on my blog, but I've had troubles with previous movies so I may not be able to. If anyone has tips or hints on how to upload Windows Movie Maker and other program films online I would appreciate it. I love filming!

Our previous productions include, A Winter's Tale, starring myself and other friends, Robin Hood, starring myself as the Sheriff of Nottingham, Battle in the Wood, starring my brother, and a stop motion film using Playmobils. Our property has been converted into battlefields, castles, etc. and our journey with filming has been fun and educating. My sister is our wonderful producer and director and should get the credit for editing and holding the movies together. I am hoping King Arthur will be our best production, which reminds me, in order for it to be so I should get to writing the script. Til' next time,

  1. Hi A.J.!

I know how all about how to use Windows Movie Maker, as I use it all the time. But I'm not sure what you mean about downloading it. It should come with your computer (it did with mine). But just let me know if you don't have it, and I'll ask my dad where you can download it from.

By the way, love your blog title. I saw it and I was thinking, "Wait a sec!!! That's the book I got from Christmas on my list of books to read!"

    1. Thanks for following me! I mean uploading the movie to my blog or another place online. I could probably post it to YouTube but I don't have an account there. We have Windows Movie Maker. I may have to just post King Arthur in parts. I'll ask you if I have any questions. Yes I love my blog title and C.S. Lewis. The Space Trilogy is a very good series by him, I would recommend it. I'm reading Perelandra right now. Very good read. Thanks for your comments and your follow,

  2. Hey, I wanted to say thanks for following my blog, and good luck on filming and screenplay writing! Right now I'm trying to write a screenplay for our Robin Hood movie, while trying to keep in mind that all but one of my actors are under ten. So no fancy language in the script. How many siblings do you have? I'd like to stay in touch.

    1. Thanks so much for following me! I have three siblings; two older sisters and a younger brother. I'd love to stay in touch with you. King Arthur is one of those stories that has a lot of fancy language too but most of our kids can handle it if we give them their lines before shooting. Good luck on Robin Hood!

    2. Would you like to be email pals? Just asking, but I'd like to. I hope you manage to post some of King Arthur on here. Ye Castle Attack? On which blog is that?

  3. Ye Castle Attack is on ponderedinmyheart.typepad.com/random_interesting_stuff/ I am not sure of its exact location on the site so you will have to dig through their latest archives to find it. Sorry about that! They are another amateur film maker family and I've watched some of their movies. I haven't seen the Daughter of Thaddaeus though. Sure, I'd love to stay in touch through e-mail.

I just realized I can't give my address out online. You can send me an email at ankaraacademyATyahoo.com and I will respond with my real address. If you have any troubles with it just tell me. I'll try to get King Arthur on here.

  4. Hello Gwyn! This is Caureloron from the AOU board. Your project sounds exciting! I love Howard Pyle's King Arthur and Robin Hood--I've always thought they would make good films.

My family and friends and I enjoy filmmaking too. And we also started with stop-motion Playmobil! :) We were working on a Playmobil version of "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" before the WaldenMedia film came out.

YouTube is the best way I've found to host movies. You can upload them there and embed them on the blog. If you don't have a YouTube, maybe you can find a file-hosting site that would let you store the movies directly? But something to think about: Windows Movie Maker saves a lot of things in WMV format, which non-Windows platforms have problems reading. (YouTube converts WMV files to its own format when you upload them.) I've had better luck getting other computers to read AVI files.

    Good luck with your production!
